Des Plaines Office Equipment celebrates 55 Years of Business; recognized by United States Congress, Elk Grove Village Government and Chambers
Des Plaines Office Equipment (www.dpoe.com), the Chicago area’s leading provider of office equipment solutions, celebrated its fifty-fifth anniversary of business this summer with a ceremony at their Elk Grove Village location.
Company President Chip Miceli and Vice President Vic Miceli and their leading team members were recognized for the success of the business by a number of local business leaders, including U.S. Congressman Peter Roskam, as well as representatives ofElk Grove Village,ILgovernment, and members of area Chambers of Commerce.
Congressman Roskam (U.S. Representative for the Sixth District of Illinois), presented President Chip Miceli with a citation from the United States Congress commending the company on fifty five years of success as a business; the company also received a letter and a citation from Mayor Craig Johnson, who commended DPOE for their many contributions to the region. Chip Miceli and his team also received kind words from Senior Trustee James Petri , who congratulated the company on its success.
When DPOE got its start 55 years ago, the company sold Underwood typewriters and office furniture. In those days the company operated from a garage. Today, with nearly 80 employees, $12-$14 million in annual sales, three locations and four acquisitions, the firm is very different. At one time the business might have been described as one that “sells copiers.” That barely begins to describe the scope of services offered. DPOE moves a considerable amount of equipment, primarily through leasing to clients; and it is far more state-of-the-art than what used to be their standard fare. DPOE clients include traditional businesses, schools, hospitals, Chambers of Commerce, and more.
Chip Miceli, and his brother Victor – as second-generation owners of a family business – understand the importance of service, and building strong and solid relationships: with their customers, with the community, and with their employees/team members.
DPOE knows that people and technology are its most important assets – in that order. “We cannot compete effectively without the latest technology, but the best technology in the world is not worth much if the people behind it are not knowledgeable and personable. DPOE is as strong as the people who make up the team,” says Chip Miceli, President of Des Plaines Office Equipment.
Adding, “This has been a great fifty five years for us. I am fortunate to have a great team of people here at Des Plaines Office Equipment, and we appreciate the support and good wishes of the Congress, the Mayor’s Office, the Chambers, and the Elk Grove Village Trustees and Members. We look forward to many more years serving businesses of this region.”
